Just a guide on how to install Windows XP on a Fujitsu Q520 that uses Intel series 8 AHCI drivers .This post includes a download link for a Modified version of XP SP3.
1.) Intel does not make a version of the series 8 AHCI/sata drivers for XP . So even though you can extract the drivers theres no TXTSETUP.oem file so they cant be loaded during startup ! ( whiich in turns mean your HDD wont get detected and you will get the BSOD ).
2.) This can be easily avoided and just changed the disk driver to IDE mode . But its better to use AHCI ( especially with a SSD ) so heres how its done .
3.) Some kind chap called Fernando has created these unsigned drivers for this very purpose . I downloaded the following Drivers for my 32bit version of XP HERE
4.) Now you have the drivers extract these to a directory on your C:\ i.e. "C:\XPSATA"
5.) Download a copy of XP from the Microsoft licensing center and a copy of NLITE from http://www.nliteos.com/
6.) Extract the copy of XP using winrar to a folder on the C:\ called " C:\XPSP3"
7.) Follow the guide located on HERE on howto insert the drivers into the copy of XP you extracted ( i added them all ! , as it didn't make any difference )
8.) After inserting the drivers and its all complete , reopen the program pointed to the same folder and make a ISO from it . You can either burn direct to CD or make a ISO and use your own burning software.
Note - You maybe wondering why i just didn't load the drivers at start up with F6 , well with our Fujitsu Q520's it wouldn't allow us to . On pressing F6 it would just crash the machine ( USB floppy maybe ? ) . Another thing to note with the Q520 you cant get it to recognize a USB floppy drive unless you have a USB stick inserted at the same time . If we was also to use IDE mode instead of AHCI , the boot order no longer works or the Optical disk drive eject button !
And here is one i made earlier . A Genuine copy of Windows XP with the latest Intel Sata drivers slipped in ! . This download does not include a serial code so please make sure you own this product before downloading .
